Beauty Favorites of 2014

Hey Dolls!

These year has come to an end and I can't be more excited fort he year to come, but before we can ring in the new year we should reflect on 2014. The best way to reflect on the blog is to talk about my favorite beauty items of 2014. Hopefully this post will inspire you to ring in the new year with some new makeup goodies! With all that said, let's jump into it.

Let's begin with Skincare:
  • Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash Clarifying Cleanser- I love this cleanser. Whenever I feel like me skin is super oily or makeup isn't completely off. It's super inexpensive and great for all skin types. If you are in the market for a good foaming cleaner, then try this one. I promise you will love it. You can purchase this cleanser and the whole Alpha Hydrox line from Ulta. If you are looking for more information on this product, then check out my review on this product. I will link it below.
Let's move on to Face Makeup Products:
  • Real Techniques Expert Face Brush- This brush is awesome for blending out almost anything. It blurs sharp lines and give an air brushed look to the face. It's definitely been my secret weapon! I highly recommend this brush for anyone who is in the market for a good face brush. This brush can be purchased at Ulta, realtechniques.com, and select Walmarts.
  • Kat Von D Lock-it Tattoo Foundation- My Gosh! This has been my holy grail foundation since the beginning of the summer. I love how full coverage and blendable this product is. I highly recommend this to anyone with oily/combo oily skin with severe pigmentation and acne. If you would like more info I will link my review on this product below. This can only be purchased on katvond.com or Sephora.
  • Manual Override Silicone Primer- This is a standard silicone based primer. It is great for foundations that make me look and feel dry. It's awesome and super inexpensive. I do have a brief review on this product if anyone is looking for more information. I will link it below.
  • L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer- At the beginning of the year I was using MAC prolong wear concealer and that is an awesome concealer, but it can become a bit too expensive. The MAC concealer retails for $19.00. So, I did a little searching for a more inexpensive option and I came across the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer. They retail for two dollars!!!! They are pigmented, long lasting, and gorgeous! In my opinion it is a dupe for the MAC prolong wear. I highly suggest this product to everyone!
  • ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder in Turks and Caicos- This is the prefect contouring shade for people with skin tones that are considered deep/dark. It is neutral toned brown that is super velvety and super inexpensive. This can be purchased on eyeslipsface.com.
  • Maybelline Fit Me powder in 360 Mocha- I have used this powder for at least two years to warm up my skin. It is an awesome bronzer for people with medium deep skin like myself.
  • Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection To Reflect Shimmer Palette- I love these highlighters. I really don't want to go off on a tangent about these because they have truly been my go to highlighters. I will share my review on these with you all because they are awesome!
  • Clinique Blended Face Powder and Brush- This is the world's greatest powder. I cannot say enough good thing about this powder. I know that it could be considered somewhat old lady like, but I think its a beautiful powder. It goes on so beautify and has several shades so there is no white cast.
  • L'Oreal Magic Lumi primer- This is a luminous primer and I love it for liquid highlighting and for priming during the winter. I love this primer because it is amazingly gorgeous, There is no glitter just a glow from within shine. I adore this primer.
  • L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother- This is technically considered skin care, but I use it has a pore reducing primer. It doesn't make me oily or overly dry. It creates the prefect base to apply makeup on top of.
Moving on to eye products:
  • Naked 3 Palette- This is a neutral palette by Urban Decay. I adore this palette. I love that all of the colors are very versatile and easy to blend. These shadows are extremely pigmented and super buildable. I love this palette some much. I highly recommend it for some people who love neutral colors.
  • NYX Eye Shadow Base- This base has been awesome because it helps my shadows really adhere to my eyes and it keep the shadows from fading. I personally think this is much better than the Urban Decay primer potion primers.
  • Wet n Wild Fergie Crème eyeliner in Cocoa Riche- As I am sure you all know I use this product to fill in my eyebrows and I love it! It keep my brows from sweating off, smudging, or fading throughout the day. It is a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade.
Last, but not least... Lip Products:
  • NYX butter gloss- These lip gloss are out of this world. They smell like cotton candy, they aren't stick, they are super inexpensive, and they come in an array of colors.
  • L'Oreal Collection Privee Lipstick in 370 Jennifer's nude- This is the prefect natural lipstick for my skin tone. These lipstick would be the prefect nude nude for anyone two to three shades darker than me and it would be the prefect deep mauve nude for anyone lighter than me.
That's all folks!

I hope you all enjoyed this post. Remember I will link reviews on some of these product below.

Rose Gold Party Eye Tutorial

Hey Dolls!

I posted a picture on all of my social media and I received amazing feedback on this look. Several of you loved it so much that I decided to do a tutorial on the look. This look will be using the Naked 3 palette only. So, today's post will be a detailed tutorial on this entire look. Feel free to change up the look as much or as little as you like. This is just a guideline. Feel free to be as creative as you would like. I think this old go prefect with the nude lip gloss I used or a mauve or purple lip color. With all of that said, let's jump straight into the tutorial!
Let's begin!
  1. Prime your eyes with you favorite eye primer. I used the NYX eyeshadow base in ESB03 Skin Tone.
  2. Take a fluffy blending brush and blend the color nooner into the crease. This color will be used to deepen the crease as well as blend out any of the other colors placed on the upper lid or crease area. Nooner is a tannish taupe color.
  3. Place tape on the outer corners of the eye. This will ensure you get sharp lines on the outer edges of the eyes.
  4. Wet a flat shader brush with makeup setting spray or water then dip the brush into the color trick. Trick is a beautiful metallic rose gold shade. Place this color all over the moveable eye lid area. Pack this color on ass intense as you would personally like.
  5. Take a domed brush and apply the color darkside to the outer v area. make sure to blend this color into the crease. Darkside is a deep taupe color.
  6. Take a fluffy blending brush that has no product on it and blend out any harsh lines.
  7. Take a domed brush and apply blackheart over darkside. Place this color solely in the outer v. Darkside is a black shadow with red glitter in it.
  8. Take a fluffy blending brush with no product on it and blend out the black color that was applied to the eye.
  9. Apply black gel eyeliner in a wing shaped formation. I used MAC blacktrack gel eyeliner.
  10. Tight line the eyes with a black eyeliner pencil. I used Smashbox Always sharp eyeliner in Raven.
  11. Use the same eyeliner pencil to line the water line as well.
  12. Take a domed smudge brush and smudge the colors darkside and blackheart onto the bottom lash line. Make sure to not take these colors down too far and be sure to not make this too intense.
  13. Take a small detailer brush and apply the color dust into the inner corner. BE LIGHT HANDED!! Dust is a shimmer little pink shade.
  14. Take a small flat shader brush and apply the color limit onto the brow bone. Limit is a matte pinky light taupe color. If you are lighter than me then use strange instead of limit. Strange is a off white matte shade.
  15. Curl you lashes and apply your favorite mascara. My mascara of choice is Hard candy Lash Primer and Julep Go big mascara in black.
That's all folks!
I hope you all enjoyed this look! It would be prefect for New years or for any night out or party.

My Go-to Everyday Makeup Before and After

Hey Dolls!

I often see people say flawless makeup starts with flawless skin. Although that is true I believe it is misinterpreted often. I believe people think flawless skin means that you can't have acne or hyperpigmentation and that isn't true. Flawless skin in regards to flawless makeup is well hydrated, recently exfoliated, fresh skin. It's that simple and to prove it I have a before and after picture to share with you all.

P.S. the weird edit lines are from the beauty face filter my phone's camera does. The filtet is automatic and it is used to soften the skin. I forgot to turn it off before taking the pictures. Unfortunately, my glasses and the automatic filter do not agree with one another. Sorry for the distortion!

That's all folks!

Thanks for stopping by the makeup junkie! Have a great week!

Would You Rather tag Beauty Edition

Hey Dolls!
I thought it would be fun if I did a few tag posts. I would answer the questions from each post as Youtubers would do in a video. I figured this would be an awesome way to expand the scope of the blog. Hopefully you all enjoy this posts and with that said lets get to it.

Let's begin!

1.Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or Nice hair and no make-up?

I would rather go out with messy hair. You can always cover up bad hair with a scarf or hat, but you can't cover your face.

2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

I would rather have my eyelashes fall off. Don't get me wrong I love lashes alot, but eyebrows make your face. I need eyebrows.

3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?

I would rather shop at Sephora for the rest of my life. I am not a huge fan of MAC.

4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?

This is a hard one... I would say lipgloss/lip liner look. If you find a pigmented lipgloss you could totally pull off the look successfully.

5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?

I would rather leave with obvious blush. I could say it is a new trend I am trying.

6.Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?

I would rather wear Hammer pants. I actually this they look super comfy. I would love to wear Hammer pants.

7.Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?

I would rather have orangey tan. You could always layer up my clothes to prevent peole from seeing how orangey my skin looks.

8.Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?

I would rather have a had haircolor. I would just dye my hair again.

9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?

I found my passion for makeup on YouTube, so I would rather not have twitter than YouTube because of Youtube's role in my career.

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?

This is really hard because I am a hoard of both makeup brushes and mascara. If I have to give using one I would give up makeup brushes. I could always use my fingers and other toys. It never said I couldn't use sponges and applicators.

That'sall folks!

I hope you all enjoyed this post. It was a bit different from others. If you have and questions or comments please feel free to leave them in the comment section below. Cinnamon Honey Butter Recipe

Hey Dolls!

Fall is in full effect which means the warm flavors of fall are also in full effect. When I think of Fall scents and flavors I think pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon. So, today I wanted to share with you all a
easy recipe that incorporates one of those flavors... CINNAMON. The recipe is cinnamon honey butter. This is a twist on regular honey butter. This butter is sweet from the honey with a slight kick from the cinnamon. It pairs well will bagel, toast, or even pancakes. Once you try this recipe I promise you will be addict. So, without further a do let's jump into it!

You will need...

  • 2 tsp. of powdered cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup of honey
  • 1/4 tsp. of vanilla extract
Let's get cookin'...
  1. Allow two sticks of butter to soften at room temperature. This may take a one to two hours depending on how warm your home is.
  2. Once the butter is softened remove it from its wrapper and place it in a bowl.
  3. Add the cinnamon. honey, and vanilla extract into the bowl with the butter.
  4. Mix the butter with an electric mixer or a spoon until all of the ingredients are combined and the texture is smooth.

Clarisonic Brush Head Dupe Review

Hey Dolls!

Skin care is extremely important to me. As you all know I am constantly looking for new skin care products to improve my skin's overall appearance. One product that I enjoy using on my skin is the Clarisonic Mia. I received the Clarisonic as a gift about two or three years ago and it has been awesome. I love how well it cleans the skin, as well as, how gently it exfoliates the skin. I have noticed such an improvement in the texture of my skin since using the Clarisonic. I have also noticed that my hyperpigmentation has lightened quite a bit. It can be used once a day, everyday. (If you are sensitive you may want to use it once every other day.) It definitely is my holy grail way to clean my skin.

The only problem I have is the brush head replacements. The brush heads must be replaced every three months. The brush head replacements cost $25.00 each. As a person on a budget, I don't always have $25.00 plus dollars to spend on ONE brush head. So, I did a little research. I found that amazon sells Clarisonic brush head replacement dupes. I purchased five of the brush head dupes from amazon about a month or two ago. After using the brush heads for the last four weeks I can tell you that I never will purchase another brush head for the Clarisonic at full price ever again! These brush head dupes are the same as the name branded brush heads. I experience no roughness or acne when using these dupes. I actually find them to be more gentle than the name brand heads.

These are the name brand Clarisonic brush heads

Like the name brand heads the dupes do come in all different types. You can purchase dupes in normal, sensitive, deep pore, acne, and body. The normal, sensitive, deep pore, and acne work for all Clarisonics except the foot and body Clarisonic. The body brush head only works on the Clarisonic for the body. They also purchase dupes for the cashmere brush heads as well.

The brush head dupes can be purchased on www.amazon.com from several different vendors. Simply put Clarisonic brush head dupes into the search box and find the deal that works best for you. I promise you will be extremely happy with the brush  head dupes.

I hope you Dolls found this post to be helpful. If you have any questions or comments feel free to put them in the down bar below. If you would like to contact me please refer to the 'follow me' tab. There you will find my email and all of the social media platforms I am on. Remember to share and 1+ this blog and post. Thank you for stopping by the makeup junkie. I hope you have a great week!

DISCLAIMER: All opinions given were my own. I was not paid to make this post. I am not affiliated with any of the companies or people mentioned. I purchased the brush heads with my own money.

October Non-Beauty Favorites

Hey Dolls!

October is over and November is underway. Which could only mean one thing... it's time for my October non-beauty favorites. So, let's jump into it!

Let's begin with music...
  • Jealous by Nick Jonas - I LOVE this song! This song shows how grown up Nick Jonas is. It definitely does not sound any of the songs the Jonas Brothers made for Disney. If you are into music that falls in the category of pop/rock or you are a Nick Jonas fan this song is for you. FYI is new album is suppose to drop sometime next month, so look out for that.
Onto food...
  • I have been really into Fuji apples lately. I love that they are sweet, but not candy sweet. I love eating apples with cookie butter, peanut butter, or caramel sauce.
  • I have been trying to reduce the amount gluten I consume. I am hoping to transition to being totally gluten free. However, it has been a bit of a process for me. To make this process easier for myself, I have been introducing a few gluten free foods into my diet such as almond milk and brown rice pasta. In addition to eating and drinking gluten free foods, I have been attempting to create delicious gluten free recipes. When I am totally gluten free and have done more recipes hopefully I can share some of the recipes with you Dolls.
Next up is TV shows...
  •   How to get away with Murder- OMG I am in love with this show! The show is about a lawyer (who also is a law professor) and a few of her students. The story follows two murders and there are quite a bit of confusing flashbacks that get less confusing as the series goes on. This is a show about murder, lust, lies, and suspense. I don't want to give anymore details away, so I don't spoil it for anyone who is going to watch it. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Scandal or other drama based shows. I DO NOT recommend this show to children.
That's all folks!

This month's favorites are quite short because I have been busy with school.

October Beauty Favorites

Hey Dolls!

October has come and gone which means its time for my October beauty favorites. So, let's jump into
it!

Let's begin with makeup...
  • Cocoa Bean Lip Gloss- I won this lip gloss in a giveaway sponsored by bloandgo, Gerard Cosmetics, and Nicole Guerriero last month and I am in love with it! It is a beautiful warm toned brown shade. I am a medium deep shade (for reference I am n8 in L'Oreal true match.) so, this shade looks like a brownish nude on me. If you are fair to tan it will look like a deep brown shade. If you are darker than me if will appear more nude on your skin. This gloss is amazing for fall no matter the skin tone. I recommend it to all of you Dolls!
  • NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Face Powder- This is a finely milled face powder. I have it in the translucent shade. I adore this powder! It never goes ghostly on me and it never gets cakey. I use it to mattify my skin throughout the day. I use this several times a day and it always flawless. This product is so soft and smooth. I am honestly surprised no one talks about this stuff. Especially because it only costs two dollars.
  • L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur-  I have been using this for several months now and it has become my holy grail primer. It mattifies the face amazingly and it makes fine lines and pore appear smaller. I love it!
  • Hard Candy Glow All The Way face and body luminizer in Glamazon Bronze- I am in love with this luminizer! It gives a gorgeous glow to the skin. It is not super glittery and it doesn't make my skin appear oily. It give a nice dewy, healthy glow to the skin. I usually mix it in with my foundation or put it on my cheekbones. This product is super smooth and easy to blend. I recommend it for anyone looking for a drugstore luminizer.
  • Milani Baked Blush in 06 Bellissimo Bronze- This blush is an amazing shimmery bronze blush. I love this to give the skin a sun kissed glow. It really helps me achieve that bronze goddess look that is so popular during the summer. I am someone who loves to have a glow all year round. Even though I am oily.
  • Milani Bella Eyes Gel Eyeshadow in 15 Bella Purple- I have a few tutorials up on the blog featuring this eyeshadow. It is a beautiful medium, deep purple shadow. It is a great fall shade. This color will make hazel, brown, green, and honey eyes pop!
Let's move on to hair care...
  • L'Oreal Lock it Bold Control Hairspray- This is the best drugstore hairspray I have ever used. It hold the hair in place for several hours. If I tie up my hair at night my hairstyle will last several 24 hours or more. I highly recommend this product to all of you Dolls.
Onto Beauty YouTubers...
  • Norvia Sun- I am obsessed with this lady! She is new to YouTube but, not to makeup. Her mother is Anastasia of Anastasia Beverley Hills. Together these gorgeous women make some of the most amazing makeup products to date! I highly recommend her videos to your Dolls! She is extremely informative and fun to watch.

That's all folks!

That was my October beauty favorites. BTW, this month I have no Un-Favorites. (YAY!)

Makeup Tips for Glasses Wearers

Hey Dolls!

Glasses are amazing. There are so many different designs and colors to fit every style. However, It can be extremely difficult to apply and wear makeup when you are a full time wearer of glasses. At times your eyes may look small due to the type of lens. Or the lenses may make the eyes look too big. Or glasses hinder the  ablitly to show off eyeshadow. My point is...  It can be such a hassle. Trust me I know, I am a full time wearer of glasses. #thestruggle. Although the struggle is all too real, I have discovered a few tips and tricks to make the struggle feel a little less real. So, without further a do, let's jump into it!

Let's begin with tips for glasses that close of the eye: All of these tips will aid in making the eye
appear larger and brighter.
  1. Apply a white, cream, or tan eyeliner to the waterline.
  2. Apply a shimmery champagne colored eyeshadow into the inner tear duct.
  3. Curl your eye lashes upwards.
This next set of tips is for glasses that make the eyes look too big: All of these tips will aid in making the eyes appear smaller.
  1. Apply a black eyeliner in the tear duct.
  2. Curl your lashes downward. Use the eyelash curl upside down to achieve a downward lashes.
  3. Use darker colors on your eyes.
These tips are for glasses that make it hard to show off eyeshadow:
  1. DO NOT wear winged eyeliner.
  2. Use a eyeshadow base to intensify the eyeshadow.
  3. Wear your glasses farther down your nose or as high up as possible.
This tip is for glasses that create dark shadows under the eye:
  1. Use a concealer several shades lighter than your skin tone. 2-3 shade lighter will go fine. Take you finger and pat in it. Then apply a equally as light powder over it to set it.
This tip is for glasses that rub of makeup along the bridge of the nose:
  1. Use a powder puff and apply a heavy layer of powder over the nose. DO NOT apply makeup setting spray to the nose.
These last few tips is for glasses that distort the eyebrows: Remember glasses only frame your eyes, eyebrows frame the entire face. If eyebrows look distorted so does the entire face.
Me wearing my favorite glasses
  1. If your glasses hides your eyebrows simple arch then higher.
  2. If you glasses make your eyebrows appear to larger. Thin them out slightly.
  3. If the glasses make your arch look too high reduce the size of your arch.
That's all folks!

Biotin 101

Hey Dolls!

Some people are born with amazing hair and gorgeous nails others aren't so fortunate. For those of us who aren't born with or have damaged our hair and nails we must create it. With that said, finding the right products to promote growth and of the nails and hair is hard. Especially because the market is flooded with shampoos, conditioners, masks, serums, etc. that claim to strengthen and grow. As a person who has tried dozens of these so-called "miracle" products trust me when i say it is rare to see lasting results. Due to the lack of results and /or long lasting results I decided to do research. During my research I found more people experienced results using supplements instead of beauty products. So, bought myself a few different supplements. Over the course of a couple of months I found a few supplements that I believe work. Biotin is one of those supplements. Today, I am going to share with you all some basic information on Biotin, as well as, some tips to make you Dolls successful biotin users. With that said, let's jump into it!

Let's begin with basic info on Biotin:

Biotin is vitamin H. It is often referred to ask vitamin B7. Biotin is essential for the formation of fatty acid and blood sugar. Biotin
aids in the body's metabolism of carbs, fats, and proteins. Which makes it great for people who are trying to keep their metabolism high or lose a little weight.

Common uses of Biotin are:
  1. Nail Growth
  2. Reduction in Dandruff Production
  3. Eczema
  4. Hair Loss

Food that has Biotin in them: Some foods naturally are high in biotin. The following list will name a few of the foods that contain this vitamin.
  1. Nuts
  2. Mushrooms
  3. Oats
  4. Whole Grains
  5. Liver
  6. Cauliflower
  7. Salmon
  8. Bananas
  9. Carrots
  10. Sardines
  11. Legumes
  12. Egg Yolks
  13. Avocado
Some signs you maybe biotin deficit:
  1. Hair Loss
  2. Dry Skin
  3. Excessive Dandruff Production
  4. Brittle Nails
  5. Weight Gain
Things to avoid if you have a biotin deficiency:
  1. Excessive amounts of alcohol
  2. Excessive consumption of raw egg whites
If you are experience any of the things in the biotin deficiency section, try to incorporate more biotin rich food into your diet.
If you suffer from serve biotin deficiency or would like to add more biotin into your system then, a biotin supplement might be the way to go.

Tips for taking Biotin pills:
  1. Start with a low dose. Biotin is known to cause acne. To avoid acne take it slow and allow your body to get use to the surge of biotin coming in. The lowest does is 300mcg the highest is 20,000mcg.
  2. Buy biotin in a glass container. Plastic has harmful chemical in it. Glass does not. Which makes it safer.
  3. Take at least one pill daily, no more than two.
  4. Keep up with a regular skin care and hair care routine. This will promote hair growth and it will keep your skin from breaking out.
That's all folks!

Purple Smoky Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hey Dolls!

It's Fall here in America. Which means jewel tones are trending. So, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and create a jewel toned smoky eye. This tutorial will feature two jewel tone colors; those colors are deep purple and emerald green. This look will look amazing on people with green, hazel, honey, or brown eyes. It is simple but, a bit more time consuming than most of my other tutorials. However, this would be a killer night out look. Especially if you are experiencing fall like weather. So, with all that said let's jump into the tutorial.

Begin with skin prep:
  1. Complete your skin care as usual.
  2. Primer your face with your favorite primer.
  3. Prime your eye lids, crease, brow bone, and bottom lash line with your favorite eye primer.
  4. Apply lip balm to your lips.
At this time I usually complete my eyebrows. For sake of time and space I will not be posting my eyebrow routine here. However, I will link it below for anyone who is interested.

Onto the eyes:
  1. Apply a white or cream eyeshadow base to the ball of your lid. This will make the color applied on top appear more intense.
  2. Apply a dark brown base to the inner and outer corners of the eyes. This will ensure the color applied on top appear more intense.
  3. Apply a piece of tape to the outer edge of the eye. Make is resemble a winged eyeliner. This step will help create a more sultry look. It will also create crisper lines.
  4. Using a fluffy crease brush apply a medium brown color into your crease.
  5. Then take a flat shader brush and apply a deep purple color onto your lid. A shimmery or satin deep purple will work best for this look. You can wet the color if you would like. Applying the color wet will intensify the purple.
  6. Using a small, fluffy circular eyeshadow brush apply a matte, deep brown shade into the outer and inner corners of the eyes. Avoid your tear duct. In the outer corner wing the shadow out. Make sure it goes upwards. This will lift the eye and create a more sultry effect.
  7. Take a clean blending brush and blend the harsh lines between the purple and brown on either side of the eye. If you lose any intensity just apply more shadow and continue to blend.
  8. Once you are satisfied with the intensity of your shadows apply a emerald green eyeliner to your bottom lash line. It is up to you how far down the lash line you take the color. I personally like to take the color down enough that people can see I have a green shade under my lash line. TIP: Apply your foundation and concealer before this step.
  9. Then take a pencil brush and blend out the green eyeliner.
  10. Once you are satisfied and there are no harsh lines apply an emerald green shadow on top of the pencil. This will set the color so it does not budge and it will also build intensity.
  11. Next apply a shimmery cream, white, or champagne shadow into the inner tear duct. This step will keep the eyes looking bright and open.
  12. Then apply a purple eyeliner into your waterline.
  13. Once the purple is in your waterline apply a matte cream shadow to your brow bone.
  14. Then apply a thin layer or black liquid or gel eyeliner to the lid. Create a winged shape.
  15. Once the eyeliner is dry remove the tape from the corners of your eyes.
  16. Next curl your lashes and apply your mascara.
Next up is the lips:
  1. Remove any excess lip balm.
  2. Apply L'Oreal Fairest Nude Lipstick. Any nude lipstick will due.
  3. Then apply NYX butter gloss in Tiramisu. Any nude-ish pink loss will due.
That's all folks!

That was my Purple Smoky Eye tutorial. I love this look. It really is a gorgeous look for people with brown, hazel, green, and honey color eyes. This also looks flawless of people with tan to deep skin. Or people with cool undertones. If the green under the lash line is a bit too much for you then you can opt of it. If you would like to switch up the purple shade with a blue or green or any other color, feel free. This is just a inspiration look. You can take it anywhere you want it to go. Makeup is truly about having fun and expressing yourself.

Fresh Face Makeup Tutorial

Hey Dolls!

The fresh faced look is usually referred to as a spring and summer trend. Although, it is a warmer season staple I think this look is gorgeous for all times of year. With that said, today I am going to share with you all my fresh faced makeup tutorial. So, without further rambling let's jump into it!

Let's begin with skin prep:
  1. Complete your skin care routine as usually. I will link  my routines below.
  2. Apply your favorite lip balm to your lips. I generally use Carmex.
  3. Apply your favorite primer to your face. I generally use L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother. I suggest only applying primer to your problematic areas. I.E. the t-zome or places with larger pores.
  4. Apply eye primer to your lids, crease, brow bone, inner corner, and under the lash line. I use the NYX eyeshadow base in skin tone.
At this time I usually do my eyebrows. I won't post all on this post, but I will link it below for anyone who is interested in it.

Onto the eyes:
  1. Place a bronze cream eyeshadow all over the lid. I used Tarte Amazonian clay waterproof liner
Me wearing the look with my glass.
in Bronze. This will intensify the other eyeshadows that will be apply and it will prolong the wear of the eyeshadows.
  2. Using a flat, fluffy eyeshadow brush apply a shimmery champagne color into the inner tear duct and the first half of the bottom lash line. I generally use Sin. This color can be found in the Urban Decay Naked original palette.
  3. Take flat shader brush and bronzy eyeshadow and apply it all over the eye lid. I generally use the color smog. This shade can be located in the Urban Decay Naked palette as well.
  4. Take another flat, fluffy shadow brush and apply a matte light brown shade onto the brow bone. Again I will use a shade in the Naked Palette. The shade is naked.
  5. Using a pencil brush apply the bronzy eyeshadow to the outer part of the lower lash line.
  6. Apply a white, cream, or skin tone (Tan) eyeliner into the water line.
  7. Then curl your eyelashes and apply mascara. I won't put up my mascara routine here. For the sake of space I will link it below.
Then move to your foundation:
  1. Apply your favorite foundation onto your face. If the winter I still use my Kat Von D Lock-It tattoo foundation, but I mix it with a glowy primer. The primer I use is L'Oreal Lumi Magic Primer. I have a review on the foundation I used. I will link it below.
  2. I then apply your favorite highlighting concealer to your under eyes, to your chin, to your forehead, down the bridge of your nose, to the sides of your mouth, on top of your cupid's bow, and under the hallows of your cheek.
  3. Set your face makeup with your favorite setting powder.
  4. Then set the under eyes, forehead, and chin with a lighter powder.
  5. Take a small tampered brush and lightly contour the hallows of your cheeks with your favorite contour powder. Try not to make this contour heavy. This look sound remain light and fresh.
  6. Then take a fan brush and apply your favorite highlighting powder in a 'c' formation on your cheekbones. If you have dry skin you could apply the highlighter to the bridge of the nose, cupid's bone, and forehead.

Next up is lips:

  1. Remove any excess lip balm.
  2. Apply a nude lip color to your lips. I used ELF's Scott Lipgloss from their Essential Ex-tra Lip Gloss.
  3. Then add NYX butter gloss in Tiramisu.
Me wearing this look without bronze shadow

That's all folks!

I hope you enjoyed my this makeup tutorial. This is a super easy look at looks flawless on everyone. I recommend it to all of you Dolls! If you would like to switch out any of the colors feel free. Sometimes I don't use the bronze shadows. If I am in a rush I only use the inner eye highlighter, the white in my water line, the brow highlight, and the mascara.

If you have questions or comments feel free to leave them in the comments section below. If you would like to contact me please refer to the 'follow me' section above. Everyday Fall Makeup Tutorial

Hey Dolls!

Fall is upon us and I am excited! I am so ready for boots, scarves, leggings, long sleeve shirts, and most of all... vampy lip colors!!! Several weeks ago I posted My Fall Must Haves. In that post I featured two lipsticks. One of the lipsticks featured in that post will be the highlight of today's post. Speaking of today's post, the post is going to be a tutorial on a basic fall makeup look. The look is easy and quick which makes it prefect for everyday use. With all that said let's jump into!

Let's begin with skin prep:
  1. Wash your face and pat it dry.
  2. Moisturize your skin with your favorite moisturizer.
  3. Apply lip balm to moisturize your lips.
  4. Apply your favorite primer to your face. I recommend only applying it to problem areas. For example the T zone.
  5. Apply your favorite eye primer to your lid, crease, and bottom lash line.
The next thing I usually do is my eyebrows. I will link my routine below.

Onto the eyes:
  1. Using a crease brush apply a medium brown eyeshadow into the crease. This step will accentuate the crease. This is a great step for people with hooded eyes.
  2. Apply tape to the outer edges of the eyes. This will create sharp lines.
  3. Then apply a deep brown shade onto a domed brush and apply the deep brown shade into the outer 'v' portion of the eye. This will add a little drama to this look.
  4. Next pull out black liquid or gel eyeliner, then apply it in a winged formation. I prefer a thicker, bolder liner look. However, if you don't feel comfortable with my style of liner feel free to make it thinner or thicker.
  5. Once the liner is dry remove the tape from the edges. TIP: This is the time were you should apply foundation and concealer. This will help sharpen any areas the tape couldn't keep sharp and crisp. If you are curious about my foundation routine I will link mine below.
  6. Then take a deep purple liner pencil and apply it to your bottom lash line. Only go down as far as you are comfortable with. I personally like mine liner visible enough for others to notice the purple, but I never take it too far down. Also, add the purple liner to your water line. By the way the purple liner I am using is Jordana 12 H Made to last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in 04 Purple Fix.
  7. Once the purple liner is on take a clean domed brush and blend out the pencil liner. Make sure there are no harsh lines or edges.
  8. After blending in the pencil, take a small domed brush and apply a deep purple eyeshadow on top of the purple liner. This step will intensify the purple color. I will be using Milani's Bella Eyes Eyeshadow in 15 Bella Purple. If you don't want an intense look, then skip this step. TIP: if the eyeshadow hasn't created enough intensity for you, apply either eye drops, Fix +, or makeup finishing spray to the brush you are using then dip it in your eyeshadow. This will give a more intense look.
  9. Once you are happy with the intensity of the purple under your bottom lash line, curl your eyelashes and apply mascara. I have a post on my mascara routine if any of you Dolls are interested. I will link that post below.
A quick selfie of me wearing this look
Now for the lips:
  1. Wipe off any access lip balm. TIP: if you have pigmented lips pat your foundation brush over your lips. The left over foundation will mute the color of your lips. this will help the lipstick's true color show.
  2. Line your lips with a deep purple lip liner. I usually use Jordana Easyliner in cabernet.
  3. Once your lips are lined apply a deep purple lipstick. Take your time. Any error with the lipstick may mess up your face makeup. TIP: if you have a hard time applying lipstick from the tub use a lip brush for more control.
  4. Then make the line more crisp by taking a small amount of concealer on a small, flat concealer brush and conceal any areas that may not be as crisp as you would like. TIP: to avoid getting lipstick on your teeth make an 'o' with your mouth. Then take one of your middle three fingers and stick it in the 'o'. Then pull the finger out. This will ensure no excess lipstick gets on the teeth.
That's all folks!

That was my easy and quick everyday fall makeup tutorial. This tutorial takes no longer than ten to fifteen minutes. It is an amazing way to spice up your everyday routine. Of course you can switch out any of the colors I used. For example, sometimes I use green liner and eyeshadow instead. And sometimes I use brown liquid eyeliner instead of black to create my wing. These small variations will look just as gorgeous as the colors featured in this look.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Deep Pore Cleansing Review

Hey Dolls!

I have been using the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Deep Pore Cleansing powder for quite some time and I have even mentioned on the blog before. One of you Dolls sent me an email and pointed out that although I mentioned it before I never shared my thoughts on it. So, I thought it was time to do a review; this review is going to be a quick review. You all seem to response better to the quick review format than the long review format. So, I will stick to shorter, more condensed reviews. With all that said, lets jump into the review.

Let's begin...

The product comes in a plastic tub. It comes in various sizes; I purchased the one pound container. The clay comes in powder form. The clay is a scent less tan powder. It can be purchased on various health websites. I purchased mine from www.amazon.com . This product retails for $8 to $10.

Onto the Pros...
  • Clears out my pores
  • Inexpensive
  • Reduces oils
  • Scent less
  • All natural
Now the Cons...
  • A little harsh. Not for sensitive skin.
 Would I repurchase this product?

I will repurchase this when I run out.

My final thoughts...

I love this mask. My pores are completely clear. Also, my pores are several times smaller than normal after using this mask. I have noticed my skin is less oily after using this mask. Additionally, my skin seems less prone to white heads and pimples after this product has been used. I adore how affordable it is. This is really an amazing mask. I highly recommend this to everyone especially to my oily Dolls! If you are dry, have sensitive skin or have small pores I would NOT recommend this to you.

Any tips?
  1. Mix water or apple cider vinegar and the clay a bowl. This will turn the clay from a powder consistency to a thick cream consistency. Using apple cider vinegar will enhace the power of the mask.

That's all folks!

My Workout Routine

Hey Dolls!

I am do not like working out. I am not someone who enjoys sweating or anything like that. However,
I do know that being active is healthy. Plus, it promotes weight loss which is great! With that said, I have recently found a routine that works well for me. So, without further rambling let's jump into it!

  1. In the morning I usually do 75 squats, 50 crunches, 40 lunges, and 20 "love handle" crunches per leg. This helps build up my curves and my butt.
  2. After my morning floor exercises I will go for a 30 or so minute walk. I like to do this because it wakes me up and jump starts me day. Sometimes if I am feeling energized I will go for a light jog.
  3. Once I come home I try to center myself with some yoga moves. I am not a professional at all
These are the Morning Yoga poses that do
however, I enjoy this exercise. I will link a picture that depicts the yoga poses I do.
  4. 3 to 4x a week I will hop on my elliptical and jog until I am ready to get off. Sometimes that is 20 minutes while other times its 60 minutes. It really does vary.
That's all folks!

My workout is super light. I am not one to sweat or anything like that. Nor am I conditioned enough to do heavy work outs.

I hope that you all enjoyed this post. If you have any comments or questions feel free to leave them in the comments section below. Hyaluronic Acid Serum Review

Hey Dolls!

A couple of weeks ago I posted my updated night time skin care routine. (I will link it below.) I introduced a few new products to you guys. One new product was my cleanser (I already did a review on the cleanser. I will link it below.) the second product was my serum. I have been using it for a few months now and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you all. So, without further rambling let's jump into!

Let's begin...

This is a clear, scent less liquid. It comes in a glass bottle with a dropper top; the bottle holds 1 fl. oz. It claims to add moisture to the skin without making the skin oily. It can be purchased on www.amazon.com for $8 - 10.

SIDENOTE: Hyaluronic Acid is found in the skin. It works with collagen to keep the skin hydrated and plump. Using Hyaluronic Acid Serum will help with aging and everyday dehydration. This serum is also not an allergen because it can be found in the skin. Which means even people with sensitive skin can use this product.

This is the actual product I use.
Onto my Pros...
  • It dries quickly
  • Leaves the skin soft
  • Doesn't make me oilier than I already am
  • Great for sensitive skin
  • Scent less
  • Inexpensive
Now for the Cons...
  •  Not available is stores
Repurchase or Nah...

I would definitely repurchase this! It's the BOMB!

Onto my final thoughts...

I love this serum. I have noticed a huge difference in my overall skin texture. It never makes me oilier than I already am. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a serum.

Any tips?
  1. Mix it in with your moisturizer. Mixing it in with your moisturizer actually makes it way more hydrating.
That's all Folks!

I hope you all found this quick review helpful. It seems that you all enjoy shorter reviews more than long reviews. Just in case you guys can't find the serum I will add a link to the serum below.

Beauty Q&A

He Dolls!

A few of you Dolls have emailed me various beauty related. I figured it would be a good idea do compile those questions and answer them on one post. With that said, today's post is going to be a Q&A. Let's jump into it!

  1. "What is your favorite makeup brand?"
    • This is a hard question to answer because I have several brands that I love. Especially in the drugstore. If I had to buy from only one drugstore brand it would be L'Oreal and if I had to buy from only one high end brand it would be Nars.
  2. "You did a post on a Maybelline makeup remover and you said you didn't like it. I was wondering if you found a good makeup remover yet? If so, which one and can you do a review?"
    • It's funny that this question was asked because I recently picked up a different Maybelline makeup remover that a few YouTubers have been raving about. I have been trying it out and now feel that I can make a review on it. So, you will have to stay tuned for that review.
  3. "Why did you start Makeup Junkie?"
    • I started Makeup Junkie because I love makeup and beauty. I wanted a venue where I could express my love for makeup and beauty. I also wanted to share with people my love for makeup and beauty. As well as share my makeup and beauty knowledge with people. I hope that as this blog grows the readers would also interact more with me and each other. That way we could have our know little community of makeup and beauty lovers.
  4. "I love how often you post. It gives me something to look forward to on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Do you blog everyday?"
    • I am glad you enjoy the schedule. No, I don't blog everyday. I usually spend make lists of blog post I want to post over a month long period. I spend a few days planning, taking pictures, making outlines, etc. etc. Then I type everything up and pre-schedule them to drop every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Although that spending a week or so at the end of each month solely working on Makeup Junkie can be tedious it actually makes it easier on me to be able to maintain this schedule and do the other things I need to do.
  5. "Your teeth look so white! What do you use to whiten them?"
    • Thank you! I use to use Walgreens brand whitening strips but, now I just swish hydrogen peroxide around in my mouth after I brush my teeth. with Colgate optic white. Other than that I don't do anything. And I eat and drink normally. I.E. I still have dark soda and coffee, etc. etc.
  6. "You mentioned that you have large pores I am curious to know which primer you use to minimize the look of them."
    • Large pores is an under statement. Sometimes my pores look like craters! The L'Oreal Pore Vanisher is what helps me minimize the look of my pores. It is similar to the Benefit Porefessional. I love it. You can find it in the skin care line of any drugstore.
  7. "I'm 12 going on 13 and I am ready to start wearing makeup. My mom says I should wait. Do you think 13 is too young to start wearing makeup? When did you start wearing makeup?"
    • I think your mom is correct. I didn't start wearing makeup until I was 14. And even then I only wore mascara and lip gloss. Your skin is still young, makeup could actually cause you to have acne or irritation. Besides you have a lifetime to wear makeup just enjoy this time without it.
  8. "Hi Makeup Junkie, you have made several posts on your daily routine and such but, you never go into detail on your hair routine. I was wondering if you could do a hair routine post."
    • That is a great question. I do not have a hair care routine down yet. I skip around from product to product because I haven't found anything that works well. As soon as I find a routine that works I will definitely share it with you Dolls!
  9. " I have a hard time finding a bronzer because I am dark skinned. I know you a have a dark complexion as well and I am wondering what bronzer/contour powders you use."
    • I understand your struggle. My favorite bronzers/contour powders are ELFs Blush and Bronzer duo in Turks and Caicos and Maybelline's FIT ME powder in 360 Mocha. They are great for deeper skin tones. Oh, another that works well is the Covergirl Queen Bronzer. There are a lot of shades that are designed for women of color.
That's all folks!
